working out

A Short Journey

The other day, I made myself a quite ambitious list.  The list provided me with something to do every day through the end of August.  These aren’t things that are extensive, just baby steps to get myself going again.  The list contains a lot of trapeze and a lot of boxing.  My goal is to lose last winter’s layer of fat before we get to this winter, making it continually harder to get rid of it.

Sidebar: I just turned on the tv and Saved By The Bell is on.  Turn it, turn it!

All of this trapeze and flying, I’m hoping, will encourage me to keep working out.  I have untapped potential that I am wasting by sitting in an office.  I need to pole, I need to do Zumba, I need to work on getting my personal trainer certification because these things will get me out of the office and off my ass doing things I actually enjoy.  Right?  If you know me, you know that offices aren’t for me.  I need to be out and about, busting chops, because that’s how and where I flourish.

So here I am, with my new look blog.  The sunny side which I aim for being fitness, the darker side being the office (mind you, the dark side isn’t bad, per se, I am very fortunate to have this position).  I’ll be trying once again to write more often, hopefully daily, to also get those wheels turning because this book isn’t going to write its damn self.

Welcome to yet another journey.

Oh, by the way, I get to do a weekend trip for my birthday in December.  The original thought was Vegas, but now I’m thinking I might not want to go there.  Where would you go if you had a four day weekend?

Wash ’em!

Here we are in week two of trying to be presentable for bikini week.  Last week went pretty well although the weather wreaked havoc on my trapeze time.  Looks like it’ll be more of the same this week, unfortunately.

Today was probably the best day I’ll have diet and exercise-wise.  If you’re looking for a nice healthy breakfast, I’m fairly certain that what I had this morning fits the bill.  And it was delicious.  Saute a little baby spinach and then add some egg whites.  Scramble them up and then add a diced Roma tomato and a slice of lowfat cheese.  Delish!  Rocked out a little Ab Ripper X this morning too.  Plus the gym.  Yeah!  Good day.  Except that my lower back is killing me.  Can’t win them all.

Speaking of the gym, it’s a boxing class that I go to.  I see lots of different footwear there from regular sneaks to bare feet.  I’m a regular sneaks kinda girl although I’m really considering using some of my Zumba shoes soon.  With this consideration mentioned, I’m very understanding of why some folks take the bare foot route.  If you’re really getting into it and pivoting with the hip and the body, then you need to have that no traction shoe.

At the end of class, we do abs.  Today, as I was taking great big breaths during ab work, a worthy of calling Jack Bauer terrorist attack was staged on my nose.  A guy to my left had THE MOST STANK ASS FEET I’ve ever smelled in my entire life.  Honestly, it was bad and then there was a second wave of it and I almost threw up.  If I had, I wouldn’t have known if it was due to the exercise or his feet.

I know that I was making faces and I’m pretty sure he saw me as when it was time to switch sides, he moved pretty damn quickly.  Dude, seriously? Wash your mofo feet!

Tomorrow I’m hoping to do more Ab Ripper, some yoga and some shoulder mount work.  Aim high, ya know?

Challenge accepted

I thought that I was going to try to do Insanity.  That is insane.  If I could find that motivation to do it, my body would probably revolt against me.  So, instead, I thought that I would do a couple of other things.  I laid them out nicely in a row.  Lovey asked how long I could stay at it and I, being me, took that as a challenge.  Well, sir, challenge accepted.

While this isn’t at an Insanity intensity level, I think it should still get everything in the right place for bikini week.  Looks like this:

  • Monday – boxing
  • Tuesday – rest. I know, day 2 rest is silly, but I need one.
  • Wednesday – boxing
  • Thursday – flying
  • Friday – Kenpo
  • Saturday – pole
  • Sunday – flying

Day 1.  I did it.  Ha!  I will beat this challenge!

Wednesdays are for humping

Why not?  Virginia is for lovers.  Can you imagine the ruckus on Wednesdays in Virginia?

I haven't much to say about this week.  I started my gym regimen on Monday and that was good.  An abs and ass class that has left me sore two days later.  Bonus that there was only one other person in the class other than the instructor.  Tuesday evening was yoga.  It's an intro class that goes into the names of poses, some background, and some actual poses.  It's kind of slow moving, but it's okay since I'm still learning some stuff.

As if that weren't enough, this morning I had another yoga class (different place) where I was the only student.  Completely awesome as I got personalized instruction on getting my poses just right.  I think we did some more advanced poses.  And I really need to work on my balance.  Even though the instructor was "assisting" me at points, I still almost knocked her over when I was doing Utthita Hasta Padangustasana.  I'm no yoga expert, but I would imagine that this isn't something that you ask someone to do who has been to yoga a few times.  At any rate, it was an excellent class and the same teacher runs the Friday Pilates class so I'm happy about that.

Tomorrow morning I have my first of two personal training sessions.  I need a set circuit routine for the days I hit the gym and am not taking a class.  I'm making it easy for the guy.

I'll be ending the week with the aforementioned Pilates class and I may take off Saturday and Sunday, but that remains to be seen.

SIGH.  Could someone please tell me how I could justify shelling out more cash to obtain certification in personal training?  I'm already in a Bachelor's program and it isn't as though I don't plan on finishing it, I just enjoy the exercise and making people sweat a little more than I do the computer.  People are always wanting to get in shape, right?  I guess that goes on the back burner for now.

I've said a lot for someone with nothing to say.  I hope that this week either starts to or continues to treat you all right.  have a good one!

Shyner’scope

After yesterday's crapfest, today is much better. :-)  Even my horoscope says so:

Unexpected communication from someone special – most likely another woman – is likely to brighten your entire day, MiamiShyner. Even the subtlest of comments can take you to the Moon and back. You delight in the little things, and it does not take much to amuse you. There is plenty for you to be amused about today, and you will find that you happily bounce from one subject to the next, not to mention one feeling to the next.

I wonder who's gonna call or write today?!?!  The anticipation!!  SQUEE!

Oh, and I'm going to Zumba tonight.  Loves me some working out.  AND, I'm finally gonna get my lazy bum back over to the rig because I miss flying like nobody's business.

So much to do, so much time to do it in.

HEP!
