My neck AND my back

Aaaand it’s time to go to the chiropractor. I’ve tried the tennis ball and I’ve tried the foam roller, but neither of them gets this damn knot in my neck. I’m so used to going now, that I can feel the stupid vertebrae that’s out of place. Get back in your home!! Ugh!

I felt so accomplished when I had all of my choreography down on paper for my performance later this month. And then I took it to the studio. Sometimes I forget what I can do and what I cannot. Time to make some changes. Not all bad, though. There were 2 moves I had in my routine that I am not going to have performance-ready before the end of the month, but I found three other moves that I can put in there. Thank goodness for strength moves! That’s how I roll.

Did you know that I live in Colorado? Did you know that it is January? Did you know that it’s been in the mid-sixties all week? WTH, Nature?!?! I’m not complaining, but couldn’t you hang on until Sunday? Yeah, Sunday for the game it’ll be 20 degrees colder than it’s been all week. (HA! Just saw there’s going to be a story on the news about how STEELER NATION is taking over Denver.) But a little chilly weather ain’t gonna stop me from going and screaming my head off for the boys. Mainly because at any time that I get cold, I can go inside. Spoiled rotten I am. 🙂

Short post. Stretching takes forever. I will own those damn splits by the end of the month. Ciao!

Remnants of 1 and 2

Well, here we are on Tuesday morning and it’s time to get back to reality, but first let’s wrap up 1 and 2 before we start 3 and look ahead to 4-31.

New Year’s Day

A fantastic day! No hangovers because we didn’t drink ourselves into oblivion the night before. Up early to finish up brunch preparations. Boy, did we eat. Grits fritters with ham and cheese, bacon cheddar deviled eggs, Mexican potato omelet, mimosas, Bloody Marys. Yum-tastic. We had company over and watched football and just had a lovely time. Probably should do that more often. If nothing else, it would help keep the house clean. Why, you ask? Well, because I get a little OCD when I know someone is coming over so I go on a cleaning rampage. It isn’t as though our house is so dirty – mainly dusty, but I get nuts.  But…my house is clean. I like that very much.

January 2

So much of this day was spent going back and forth on whether or not to go to the football game on Sunday. I’m pretty spoiled and now that I’ve sat in club seats, I don’t really want to sit with the masses. I also don’t want to drop $600 on a ticket. I’m leaning towards watching it from home in my nice warm house (it’s going to be cold) and my nice clean bathroom where there’s never a wait. Even if Hubby’s in there because we have two more, lol. Also, I just found out that the Steelers are coming here for regular season next year. That’s leaning heavily on my decision. Additionally, Hubby keeps giving me all of these ideas of what else I might do with my Christmas money. Like, perhaps, buy my gun. I’m thinking that the gun might be the better option. I’ll have it forever and it gives us the chance to go to the range together. Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE shooting that handgun?!?!  Ooooh, mmmmm, BANG! Love it.

Looking ahead

Yesterday in our out and abouts, we got some nice resistance bands that came with a DVD with some exercises. I did one of the videos this morning. It wasn’t awful. The handles will hold up to three resistance bands, but this morning I only used one. It’s a 30 pound band, but I think I’m going to need to put another on. The plan here is to alternate the resistance band and ab workout with stretching. Fortunately, the resistance band workout only takes about 15 minutes. Seems awfully short, but it’s pretty interesting and a new concept for me. Bursts. 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off for 10 minutes. It makes you say uggghhhhn. (Na na na na!)

January has lots of stuff in it. Steelers in town on the 8th, but not before I get to try out aerial yoga that morning. Either Hubby’s holiday party for work or the Heat game on the 13th. Class creation deadline on the 15th. Brewfest on the 27th. Showcase at the studio on the 28th. Madness! It’s going to be a busy month but I’ll survive. I’ll come out even stronger. My routine is going to be awesome! (Probably. Hopefully. No, it will be.) I’m going the distance. I’m going for speed.

Well, that’s all I’ve got today. It’s about time to giddyup. Let’s get it!

Things on Tuesday – The Pole Dance Edition

Mmmmm, writing prompts are delicious. Without further ado…

Nailing that new move

  • Six packs – Both of beer and the abs I can almost see…first thing in the morning after I haven’t eaten for more than 10 hours.
  • Saving lives – Signed up to get CPR (re)certified this weekend.  I get AED training too.  Lookout y’all, I’m talented!
  • Sharing the love – Teaching two classes this week! Yay! Also getting my own pole love in today in studio.
  • Office Friday – I get two a week since the return of Work From Home Wednesday.  The first one doesn’t bring a weekend, but it does afford me the opportunity to control the heat and wear (or not wear) whatever I want.
  • Colorado – I just love you.
  • Mini vacation – Aaaand before we turn around, it’ll be time to go to Florida.  Looking forward to coffee on the porch, seeing some folks, doing some writing, but probably not relaxing, lol.  If the weather’s nice though, maybe we get out on the boat.
Bruises and missing skin
  • Ants and spiders – Where the hell did they all come from?!?!  I know it’s getting cold out and they want somewhere warm to go, but that is NOT inside my house!  Spiders are smart; they run when they see me coming.  Ants just kinda hang out and that’s why they die.  Sorry guys.
  • Hackers – Someone hacked my iTunes account (why don’t I just close that?!?!  It isn’t as though I’m EVAR going back to an iPhone, and Spotify is much more handy for me than iTunes anyway).  Jerks.  Disputed.  Thanks for the email, iTunes, that says my account was accessed by someone in a country that was just characters.  Ever think about not putting that transaction through?  Whatevs.  Android awaaaaaaaaayy!
  • Herman Cain, PSU, asteroid close encounters – WTF man.
Get your things on; it’s Tuesday!

Manic Monday: Post-Steelers blues

Alright, alright, let’s just get the elephant out of the way.

That was some uninspired, for the most part, playing of the game last night, boys.  It wasn’t a blowout like last time since the Ravens were playing equally like caca.  Yeah, yeah, defense, etc.  I get it.  But if I saw what was going to happen in that last 30, hell 10 seconds, I think y’all who get paid for it maybe should’ve seen it also.  How many times you gonna let them thrown down the field before you think they stop dropping it?  Ahhhhh.  It’s kind of gotten the royal us (I am aware that I don’t play, nor do I have any affect on the outcome of games, but I’ve loved it for well over 20 years so it’s US.) in a bad position as far as standings, but we can come back.  Certainly have to beat the Bengals.  Twice.

Enough about that.  Lumber on outta the room ya big purple bastard.

Last week, I didn’t make it to the gym or studio nearly as much as I wanted to and by Friday I could completely tell.  I was grumpy and on edge and everything was making me want to punch/kick/stab.  Hopefully this week will be a little better.  There’s the possibility of 4 days in the studio and certainly at least 2 days in the gym.  Party, party, party.

There is much more that I could ramble about, but it just isnt’ necessary this morning.  Have yourself a lovely little Monday.

Happy Halloween and stuff

Well, well.  Here we are at the end of the month.  Here I am ironing a toga to wear to work today.  With shorts.  And leg warmers.  And a jacket.  Inside.  Because no matter how much the people change, it seems that office coldness never does.  But cold and happy is always better than cold and miserable.  And everything is better with chicken and veggies in the crock pot for dinner.

End of the month also means looking back at what I posted at the beginning of the month so let’s see:

  • Continue on with the P90X.  One week in and I’m going strong.  Strong and sore. – Okay, I didn’t do phenomenally on this one, BUT, I did make it to the gym probably close to 15 times this month.  Seeing as how I’m still paying for going to the gym whether I go or not, I’m calling this one a win.
  • NaNoPlaMo – otherwise known as National Novel Planning Month.  I’ll be trying to head on back to Mrs. C’s eigth grade English class to outline the book I’ll be writing in November. – Unfortunately, this one was pretty much an utter failure.  I’m not necessarily surprised because I’ve never been an outline writer.  I just sit down and put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard as the case may be).   Come the end of November, we’ll see if not outlining was a help or a hindrance.
  • Zumba – I need to put together at least one class so I could sub in emergencies. – This is not done.  I don’t really know where I thought I would find the time.  Still needs to be done but I’ll kind of combine it into something else for next month.
  • Teach/assist at least 4 classes – Not quite.  But that’s ok.  There are only so many opportunities to teach in a month.  This gets knocked out of the park next month, easily.
  • Read two books that have been sitting on my shelf.  Both start with ‘w’. – Damn, failure again.  Reading is just going to have to fall off of my to-do lists for a little while.
  • Stretch!  Try for 3 times a week. – This one is actually good.  I really wanted to be in that front split by the end of October (I almost typed Coctober, lol) but the last few inches are always the toughest.  A few times this month I thought I felt my back leg touch the floor so I’m good with that.  I’ll just keep at it.  It isn’t as though I’m 18 and trying to force my body to do something it’s only done once EVER.  And that was by accident out of sheer terror.
  • Pole.  Home or studio, but at least 3 times a week. – Did pretty good with this one.  Usually home on Thursday and studio on Tuesday and Saturday.  It’ll switch up locations next month, but we’ll keep the intensity and maybe add a day.
  • No minds – This cannot even be judged.  But I’ll say that I”m getting better.
I guess I’m running at about 50% for the month.  For November I either need to be more motivated or I need to not try to do so much.  Which way will I go? If you don’t know, you just don’t know.  What should I try to do in November?
  • NaNoWriMo – Yes, actually write this novel.  It is started.  It just needs a twist perhaps.  And an ending maybe.  There are just so many ways the story could go.  Quite fortunately, I will have a LOT of free time this month since we’re taking a trip to Florida.  I see several mornings of squirrel watching on the porch with my laptop and a cup of coffee.  This is the year I do it!
  • Teach – I am on the schedule!!  November brings me four classes (would be 5 were it not for traveling). I just need to bring the funk to class and make sure that I give the ladies their money’s worth in the form of a nice workout, perhaps learning something new, and walking away with a smile.
  • Zumba – I need to do something with this.  I can’t say what just yet.  One or two of you know what I’m thinking.  I just need to get it all together.
  • Stretch – Still want that split.  Maybe I should push this one out to be by my birthday.  I’m sure giving myself an extra 9 days past the end of the month will do the trick. <insert eye roll here>
I’m going to leave it at that because it’s still a lot.  Might not seem like it, but I also don’t really feel like you want to know what I’m doing at every moment of every day.  And if I tell you, that might create a stalker.  Hahahahahaha, oh come on, not really.  I’m not that interesting. 🙂
I’m off.  May your day be full of treats and very few tricks.  I’m on to costume two because costume one is not work (at least not office work) appropriate.  Look at my Facebook photos to see it.  Have a great Monday!
