Back To The Grind

Because of COURSE this is appropriate Monday morning music! The majority of us are getting up and getting our grind on in one way or another. This could become the official song of Monday morning…in my world.

Back on that grind means back to working out and stretching. After Saturday’s shoulderplant, I knew that some exercises were gonna suck, but I wasn’t sure which ones. Pullups/chinups were ok. Pushups were ok with only mild discomfort. Yes, everything was going along fine until it was time for weighted flys. That’s where shit got real. Real uncomfortable. I think that, until I figure out what I hurt or it heals itself, I’ll stick to doing those flys with no weights.

This shoulder is also putting a slight damper on my 28-day handstand challenge. Luckily, the way the program is set up, I think I have another day or two before it should actually start if I do it on their schedule rather than my own. Their program has a second portion which may be something I should just skip ahead to, but the arm strength struggles this morning say otherwise. I swear I’ve thrown myself backwards at least a month. Ah well, keep on truckin’.

In the land of win, I’m still experimenting with my mini loaf pans. Last night was caramel pecan banana bread. I think I overbaked it just a touch as I’d like it to be more moist, but flavor-wise, I’m pretty much on point. Texture-wise, I think I’m more around muffin than bread, but live and learn. I don’t bake enough to truly get better at it, but I also don’t bake enough to truly feel (and see) what happens when I eat too many baked goods. So there’s that. Also in the land of win, after a slight stretching hiatus, I was back at it this morning and was further down in my split than I have possibly ever been. My body just loves those lazy days and rewards me for them in better flexibility while it punishes me for them with decreased strength. Can’t win them all and I think that right now, I’m going to opt for flexy over strong. Or flexy over added strong.

Well, as per the norm, so much to do, so little time. Hit the showers, kid! Now go out there and conquer the world!

Weekend Remnants

With a mere 3.5 hours left in the weekend, I once again find myself wondering where it went. I mean, I know a lot of it was spent flying down the mountain and smashing my shoulder into it, but where’d the rest go? Am I in a Star Trek episode where I think I’ve been knocked out for 30 seconds and it’s actually been a whole day? (Oh, *thats* where my weekend went – Star Trek: TNG marathons.)

Physicality. That “word” pisses me off to no end. I do not care if it is in the dictionary. It sounds stupid to me. Always has and always will.

Sometimes, I just throw in a random picture. It was beautiful outside today. We don’t get this a heck of a lot where the snow sticks on the branches.

I’d hang out and chat more here, but I need to go start bolstering my positive energy now because tomorrow is gonna be a superbowl sad day in Peyton-land. Take care!

Snowy Saturday Super Smashup Silliness!

Hey, Lukas, hope you’re doing well. Using your video here to demonstrate my fail today that we didn’t get on video.

Hi everybody else. So yeah, that video, that’s not me (kinda obviously), but that’s what I did today. No, not the cool part, but the part that starts around 9 seconds. I caught my front edge, slammed my shoulder into the ground, and subsequently bounced my head off of said ground….on the first run of the day. The helmet saved my gourd, but my shoulder was not so lucky. I’m pretty sure I fell on my acromion. Say what?!?!

AcromionSee those red places on the ole skeleton over there? Those are the acromion of the scapula. And that is where the bone is sore. Thanks, Wikipedia, for the cool gif. It links back to your page. I didn’t know what this bone was called. I didn’t even know that it was some separate bone (kinda) with a cool-sounding name. See? You really CAN learn something new every day!

Of course, the muscles around there are all sore now too. Probably the couple times I tried to heelslide a jump landing and jarred my shoulders when putting my hands down. I’m a snowboarding genius. I didn’t let those jumps get me down though! The speed with which I went over them might be classified as crawling, but I didn’t fall.

Well, I am, what the kids call exhausted. I’m sure I’ll be back tomorrow to discuss the details of your dreams. That last sentence was created by picking the next suggested word by the spell checker. See ya tomorrow.
