Sometimes, there’s just a mental state that sets in and all one can do is sing along with something that requires only the tiniest amount of though. Enter the above. Plus it’s just fun to sing along with in its nonsensical way.
Something I learned the hard way last night is that I am no good the next day if I go to sleep, am woken from said sleep to do work, then have to try to go back to sleep. You see, I like my sleep which means I’m usually in bed by 10pm because 5am really does come pretty quickly. When my work phone rings at 11:30, I’m groggy at best and grumpy at worst. Then when I’m done with work at 12:15 and I go back to bed, it’s 45 minutes of tossing and turning and trying to relax and shut off my mind to get back to sleep. Yes! Being the boss is awesome.
This morning was my second go-round with Fit & Bendy. Knowing that the warmup in the video wasn’t quite enough for me, I knocked out 100 jumping jacks before I got started. Realistically, still not enough of a warmup, but better than nothing. Again today, I am feeling like I stretched and I could tell the difference from just one session in the opening of my upper back and shoulders. The real test will be to see if I get any movement from the upper back when I go to the chiropractor as he usually has a pretty tough time getting my upper back to adjust. That will be a small victory that ends up getting squashed by all of the other things that are out of place (right leg turns out, hips out of line, shoulders mild disaster). I am also seeing the tiniest bit of progress with my split as well, on both sides even! There’s a section for middle splits and I do that as well, however, I think that I fall into that category of people whose femurs sit deep in the hip socket which in turn does not allow for center splits. I promise you that I am not simply making this up as an excuse. I have X-rays and MRIs that show exactly that, but I’ll still work on getting them as far as my body will allow.
Thursday. Thirsty Thursday. No. But I can’t think of a word that starts with “th” that applies to me going to the firing range. Thwack Thwack Thursday. And it’s been the kind of week where thwack, thwack, thwack is certainly needed. It’s the little things that let me blow off steam and help keep me sane. Little things…firing off that 9mm and pole dancing. It sounds funny, but you’d probably be surprised how many gun enthusiast pole dancers there are. I mean, without even thinking, I know of five. It’s always fun to see one thing bring people together to learn that they have so much more in common.
Throw your hands up and just say ho! Hasta mañana.
USA vs. Canada. Men’s hockey. You think it’s a game? You think it’s a fuckin’ game?!?! This is for all the marbles. We DON’T WANT BEIBER!
Yeahhhh, boy. It’s Friday! And I absolutely love that song to get me hype about anything. Also possibly giving me a bad attitude about anything, but the hype outweighs the attitude. I mean, seriously, if you’ve never listened to the lyrics, please, take a minute and do so. Some of the shit Earl says is so off the wall that it’s brilliant. I would totally say this shit at work if it wouldn’t get me fired. I’m not a nice person.
It’s a good looking weekend coming up. Total chillaxing on Saturday and snowboarding and a gun date on Sunday. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll extend that good looking weekend into Monday and take a pole workshop. It interests me. I like to spin. And I think it’ll integrate well into my FabPole work. We’ll see. One minute I’m cool, the next minute I’m up on the pole, rippin’.
What’s my name? Some of you know, some of you don’t, perhaps you don’t care, which is also cool. But when I heard this last night as the last song before I got out of the car, I knew it would be today’s video and topic. You know, nicknames. I’m sure we all have them. I have many many. Part of it comes from my name being a little difficult and parts come from other various and random places. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Sis – Well that one is pretty self-explanatory, right? Give the older sibling a difficult name and think the younger sibling will be able to pronounce it. Nope. Let’s go with Sis. What’s my name?
Web – Not as in Spidey, not as in Spanish, but as in Webster Long. Remember that tv show, Webster, from back in the day with Emmanuel Lewis? Yeah, that Web. I’m starting from as far back as I can remember with these. I grew up as a fly on the rice as you can sorta see here and it continues with…
Kiz – Yes, as in Kizzie, as in Roots, as in I’m surprised I got out of small town racist retarded ass America without getting seriously killed. I blame where I grew up for my not being a sportscaster right this minute. I’ve always loved sports, but there were no Black female role models (on tv in sports) so much for me at that time combined with always being made to feel less than inferior. Yeah, I didn’t find self-confidence until I was about 26 and had left SW PA for good. Stop talkin’ shit.
Neen/Neener – Another in the self-explanatory column. I know my name is long and hard (that’s what she said) so it’s easier to shorten it. That was fine as long as you went with the last half and not the first half. For some reason, really unknown even to me, I absolutely hated to be called by the front half. Meh, I’m a nut. Here we go again.
My last name – So, I guess that’s not really a nickname since it’s my name, but we’ll run with it. Especially since I’m a girl and those who used the nickname were girls. Funny, it just wouldn’t sound right coming from other people. The game don’t stop.
Sunshine – Once upon a time, I worked in a place where a there were people from many different countries and some of those countries don’t use letters together in the same way that we do in the US. Well, this led to people effing up my name left and right or just calling me someone else’s name which sucked. At that time, I was also the only morning person, hence, Sunshine. Nevermind that clip from Harlem Nights.
From Sunshine came Sunny, Shine, and Shyner which I adopted with the slightly off spelling.
Morena – I have Spanish-speaking friends. Nuff said.
Sarcee – I gave this one to myself as more of an alter-ego than a nickname. Sarcee Wichiwi, which, loosely translated, would mean stubborn girl who dances. Yeah, accurate.
Confusing, eh? But like Earl says, you gonna think it’s a joke until they no longer remember your name and with all of those names to remember, who could ever forget? ROCO! Have a great weekend.
Is the name of a Stephen King novel. There, I said it. On with the post.
Yesterday was a bad day to be in Miami. See Roboco's post about the crane collapse, there were break-ins that resulted in shootings, the road that I take to travel the 9 miles from the place I work to my home was shut down because of a very bad accident involving two motorcycles resulting in a 2 HOUR drive to get home and the side street on the way was clogged up because of another motorcycle crash in which an older guy laid it down and was laying in the street when I went past. Yikes, what a nightmare for Miami.
There are only a few things that I am afraid of. I mean, really afraid of. Needles are one and bats are another. Not like baseball bats, flying rats. Those nasty little buggers. I've never been a fan ever since one dive-bombed my head when I was walking home at dusk when I was around 10 years old. ACK!
When I lived in Mexico, there were bats everywhere. I was freaked out all the time heading back to my room. There were places I wouldn't walk because I knew they were hiding in there. Slightly irrational? Yes. I've seen them on the ground. I know how big they are. They're small. That doesn't make them any less yucky.
Last night I dreamt that one flew into the house when we left our sliding glass door open. This wasn't a small black bat. This thing was huge and brown. I think that's why I called it a coconut bat* in the dream. It was as big as a freaking coconut! Lovey shooshed it out of the house while I screamed. I woke up this morning thinking, man I'm glad we got that stupid bat out of the house. It was just that real.
* I don't think there's any such thing as a coconut bat.
Today, Kiddo goes to Mom's, thankfully not on American Airlines as I'm watching CNN and they just cancelled about 200 flights. Tomorrow, we leave the country! No, I'm not excited or anything. 😀
It's hump day, ya'll. Get your hump on! Have a great day! HEP.
