Ramblings

Wicky Wicky Wednesday

Owwwww! She’s a brick. House.

Ok, so maybe not just yet, but I’m well on my way. Upped my weights a tiny bit this morning (everything in 2.5 pound intervals because that’s the way our adjustable weights are set up) so I’m sure I’ll be feeling that tomorrow. Maybe less with the Herbalife version of the “recovery drink” flowing through my system. And splits progress! In my stretching this morning, I’m at the point where, on my good leg (left foot forward), I can no longer get the yoga block under my crotchetal region – it gets lodged on my big ass right ass cheek. I call that a win. I can still get the block under with the right foot forward, but it’s getting closer. I think I was giving myself 3 more months to get that left split to the floor, but it’s possible that I get there sooner. Does anyone know a good rate of stretching progress? Like inches per week/month?

For the three people that regularly read this, be warned that I am considering changing up the format of this blog from PG-13 to R with an occasional X mixed in for good measure. It may become a lot more open, a lot more raunchy, and probably a heck of a lot more funny. Your clue will be when the entire layout of the page has changed.

I know that two or three of you out there are doing some form of P90X currently. How’s that going for you? The first two weeks are TOUGH (especially if you’re doing the first P90X), but hang in there! Work through the soreness, modify where you need to, but just keep moving. I promise that if you keep trying, you will see results. Oh, also if you don’t eat like crap. You’ll still see results, but nothing like you would see if you were eating well. J  Chime in and let me know where you’re at!

The habits are feeling more like habits so it’s about time to add something new. I have my shake, my grapefruit, my milk (Lactaid skim) through the shake, and now it’s time to add in the Glucosamine regiment. Perhaps it will help to lube up the joints around the hips just enough for that final push for the split. The biggest issue is finding a good time to take them because they have a lot of fish oil and the very last thing I want is to be tasting that all day. OMG so gross. I’m thinking that maybe with dinner would be a good time since my activity level is usually fairly low after about 8pm. We’ll see how that works out.

Alrighty then, that’s my brain dump for the hump (day). Get out there and push yourself to do your best!

Totally Offensive Tuesday

Or totally hysterical Tuesday, depending on your sense of humor. The first time I heard this song, this guy was playing it here. I may have been somewhat inebriated, as I tended to get in that place, but the song really stuck with me. It’s so wrong on so many levels, yet I’ll bump it on my way to work because, of course I need something with even more attitude before I go in there.

Aaaaand once I’m in here, the attitude magnitude is reaching its peak. Be warned, the remainder of this post will probably contain profanity, sexual situations, and brief nudity (nip slip). Rated R because I’m gonna say fuck.

My fucking shoulder hurts! (I told you.) And the crazy thing is that it’s not really my shoulder, per se, but more like someone is jabbing me with something pretty freaking sharp and warm somewhere under my left scapula. Like I’ve screwed up either a Teres or a rhomboid. Mmmm, pain, delicious pain. Ok, so it isn’t pain, it’s discomfort which was caused by….wait for it…shoulder opening yoga this morning. Only me.

All of this shoulder opening and splits training and P90X-ing and protein shaking for the next 3 months is not fully for vacation. I have an ulterior motive. It’s 3 months on, then one week off, then 3 more months on and with any luck, I will have some little bit of success on this road. Two of you know what I’m talking about here, maybe 3, but I’m not ready for a full-on announcement of anything just yet. Hello, vague much? All the time.

Hmmm, I’m just cranky so I’m gonna end this and go crank up the tunes. Have a great Tuesday!

I Won’t Forget You

Bloggy, I won’t forget youuuuuuuuuu. Even though I did yesterday. Yes, it’s true. I somehow did not remember about writing for Sunday until this morning. But you know what? Shit happens. I made it almost 70 days without a slip-up, so I’ll just press on and hope for another 70 days without one as well. Or perhaps 82 days. Blogging on vacation is gonna be tough.

Sidebar: I just looked out the window at the sun coming up and it looks like the sky is on fire. I’d share a picture, but I stopped bringing my phone downstairs with me in the morning because of the time suck that it is. Workout and stretch and THEN Facebook and email.

Last week, I started eating a little better to go along with my working out. Since I typically don’t eat like shit, we aren’t talking big changes here. I have to do baby steps with changing my food. Last week it was breakfast – switching over to the egg whites, spinach, and tomato instead of my breakfast sandwiches. (Only on weekends now for those little delicious monsters.) This week I’ll continue with the good breakfast. Next week, my goal is to step away from my frozen lunches and to have a better, fresher lunch. Dinner has never really been an issue, but there are steps to be taken there as well.

Like I mentioned, as a habit, I don’t eat really unhealthy stuff, at least not on a regular basis. Of course every now and again I’ll have something that’s completely out of control, but those are called cheat days and I’m 99.9% sure that having a cheat day once a week is a good idea. A little controlled cheat keeps me from binging on cake and ice cream. I guess I may have more than one cheat day a week though, because, if we’re going snowboarding, I’ll eat whatever I want because we’re burning quite a few calories out there on the mountain – more if I fall a lot. So Sunday was this week’s cheat day where I had a breakfast sandwich from Panera. Oddly enough, I couldn’t even finish it. It was yummy and I wanted it, but my tummy said, “Step away from that slightly greasy mess that you’re eating before I send it all back!” I had to walk away. My stomach is smarter than my brain apparently.

Well, swimsuit shopping is about to officially begin. I’ve seen one that I like and could be a winner, however, there’s still time to change my mind. I figure I have until about 2 weeks before the trip to make a decision and allow for shipping. Feel free to post any fun links of swimsuits down there to make my decision even more difficult. I almost want something in brown because, well, you know, shock factor of “Hey, is she naked?!?!”. What can I say, I’m a silly girl.

And this silly girl has to go and get things done. It’s a new week so get your fresh outlook and go out there and handle your business. See you tomorrow.

We’re Even Now Stop

We had a great day at Keystone today. The drive up was a little slow and icy in one spot, and the drive back was a total cakewalk.

I got to work on jumps (those should have air quotes) and even caught some air today. Granted,  it was only like a foot,  but it FELT like I was up there and up there forever. I’d show you but we had a camera malfunction.  Next time we go up it’ll be for a couple days so there will be proof.

I felt pretty good until we got home and I tried to get out of the car. It was at that point that my legs decided to flip me off. I mean, it makes total sense to do legs and back on Friday morning then ride for 3 hours on Saturday and think I won’t be in pain, right?  Riiiiiight.

Oh, right. Pain. And the title. Today, I once again ate shit on the mountain. This fall took me a little bit longer to get up from. At least I didn’t hit my head this time, but I fell on my shoulder. Again. And my arm went to sleep. Again. So now that’s twice on the left and twice on the right that my arm has gone to sleep. No more. I hope.

Off to watch boxing. Have a nice night. 🙂
