You Ghoul!

Happy Halloween! I’m not a big celebrator of this day, but run with your day those who are. There’s only one couples costume that I want to do, but the both of us don’t want to shave what would be necessary to make it work. We would be a great Picard and Guinan but I don’t wanna shave my eyebrows and he doesn’t wanna shave his beard so that’s that and we are not dressing as them. But we would be awesome.

The perfect Halloween costume

What I WILL do today is play my Halloween playlist on Spotify. You can click through to it but if you don’t want to, here’s what’s on it:

  • This Is Halloween – The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • This Is Halloween – Marilyn Manson
  • A Nightmare On My Street – DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
  • Dream Warriors – Dokken
  • Ghosts – Michael Jackson
  • Monster Mash – Bobby “Boris” Pickett
  • Zombie – The Cranberries
  • (Don’t Fear) The REaper – Blue Oyster Cult
  • Monster – Michael Jackson
  • People Are Strange – The Doors
  • Somebody’s Watching Me – Rockwell
  • Werewolves of London – Warren Zevon

Do you have song(s) that I should add? The playlist always has more space.

Can you believe that tomorrow is November already?!?! This year really flew by. I feel like once we hit November, the year is pretty much over. It all just mashes together from Thanksgiving to my birthday to Christmas and New Years Eve. None of those things really get a big celebration from me. Especially the putting up of the tree come Christmas. I just…ugh. But you know what? I have a job and I might splurge and buy myself some Christmas spirit, aka BUBBLE LIGHTS! These were a staple of the tree when I was a kid. What are bubble lights? Whaaaaaaa? These beauties:

Bubble lights!

Then, if I wanted to go full on with annoying my hubby, I would find the other thing that our Christmas tree always contained: the chirping bird.

Chirping Bird Ornament

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! They have this mofo at Target. I can get it AND get 5% off with free delivery. Did I just catch the Christmas spirit? Perhaps, lol. Yes, that’s how I am about things. It’s either balls to the wall or fuck it all. Probably why a lot of things don’t get started or finished, but hey, nobody’s perfect.

I have more thoughts but the rest of them have no cohesion so I won’t bore you with them. But if you’re just dying to know what’s rattling around in my head this morning, it looks like this:

Close to getting that split on both sides, should I do something for my birthday, should we do something for NYE, start writing the book tomorrow, 142 days till vacation, that should be enough time to lose 10 more pounds.

And with that, I’m outta here to do do work. Have a great day and don’t eat too much candy!

1-2-3 1-2-3 Drink

Happy Monday. You know, I’ve known this song has been around a little while, but I never paid any attention to it. The only reason it popped up this morning is because I started my last week of Cize and this is the song. So wait, last week of Cize?!?! That means that for the last five weeks, I’ve been diligently getting up in the morning to go down to the dungeon and make my best attempt at dancing. That means that the last routine is so freaking hard that I will spend two weeks on it, making it weeks six and seven.  That means it will be seven of the easiest (mentally) weeks to get up and work out. And I don’t usually stick with things for that long, but I’m trying to change those sorts of bad habits.

Back to Sia. Have you ever listened to this?

Party girls don’t get hurt
Can’t feel anything, when will I learn
I push it down, push it down

I’m the one “for a good time call”
Phone’s blowin’ up, they’re ringin’ my doorbell
I feel the love, feel the love

1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink

Throw ’em back, ’til I lose count

I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist
Like it doesn’t exist
I’m gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry
I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier

But I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down won’t open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, ‘cos I’m just holding on for tonight
Help me, I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down won’t open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, ‘cos I’m just holding on for tonight
On for tonight

Sun is up, I’m a mess
Gotta get out now, gotta run from this
Here comes the shame, here comes the shame

So how’s that for a gut punch? Not so much for you? Good on ya. Hit me like a truck. I used to live this way. No need to point fingers or any such madness. I’ve grown beyond that point although it took a long, long, LONG while. Drinking to not feel the pain, drinking to feel included, drinking to the point of not caring, drinking like the party girl to not get hurt, “fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry”, “gotta get out now, gotta run from this; here comes the shame, here comes the shame”. Yeah, that pretty much wraps it up. I could go into detail about feeling like that, but that’s another blog post for another day.

On to lighter topics. Last night, I carved my first pumpkin. Ever. Sounds crazy, right? To be coming up on 42 years old and to have never carved a pumpkin? Well, it’s true. And to be honest, it’s fucking gross. The inside of pumpkins smell awful. All those pumpkin guts are nasty. There was no way I was going to toast those seeds. I just couldn’t see putting that in my mouth. Yuck! However, we got a book of stencils and we have at least four left which means that we’ll be doing a second round before Halloween shows up. Here’s round one:

Lovey did the bat, and I did the other..thing. You can tell more from this shot that it’s two people holding hands than it’s also a skull. Gotta get that from just the right angle to see it in that way. Overall, I’m good with how these came out. Even though the pumpkin head on the left actually lost its head and it’s held together with toothpicks. I guess I won’t be quitting my day job to become a pumpkin carver any time soon.

Last thing I want to touch on before I move right along with my day is positivity and getting shit done. On the forward-facing front, I do well with the positivity. We all have problems and hearing mine doesn’t make anyone’s day better so I keep that shit to myself. It isn’t that I’m trying to present myself as something I’m not, I just internalize a lot of stuff. Then there’s that getting shit done part. Another of my weak points when it comes to my own personal life. At work, no problem. I’ll tackle my tasks, your tasks, her tasks, and his tasks, and likely get them all done. But when the only overseer is me, I slack. That’s right. You heard me. I slack on myself. Probably the worst possible place to be slacking.

All of this when I have goals, or at least things that I know I should do. Things I know I can do if I just put my mind to them. Things I know I can do and do well if I would just get out of my own head. Things that would get done if I could simply let go of this fear of failure. Because you can’t fail if you never start, right?

But that isn’t how I want to live my life. That’s not how anyone should live their life. I’ve been trying to ingest some positive vibes to keep myself on a good level and to encourage me to do what I know I can do. What I’ve been told I can do. What’s waiting for me on the other side of that door if I just grow up and open it. Starting today. Starting now. So, for the two people whom I “scope” the most, know that my effort is real. My effort is sincere. And my effort is for me. Here we go.

Happy Halloween and stuff

Well, well.  Here we are at the end of the month.  Here I am ironing a toga to wear to work today.  With shorts.  And leg warmers.  And a jacket.  Inside.  Because no matter how much the people change, it seems that office coldness never does.  But cold and happy is always better than cold and miserable.  And everything is better with chicken and veggies in the crock pot for dinner.

End of the month also means looking back at what I posted at the beginning of the month so let’s see:

  • Continue on with the P90X.  One week in and I’m going strong.  Strong and sore. – Okay, I didn’t do phenomenally on this one, BUT, I did make it to the gym probably close to 15 times this month.  Seeing as how I’m still paying for going to the gym whether I go or not, I’m calling this one a win.
  • NaNoPlaMo – otherwise known as National Novel Planning Month.  I’ll be trying to head on back to Mrs. C’s eigth grade English class to outline the book I’ll be writing in November. – Unfortunately, this one was pretty much an utter failure.  I’m not necessarily surprised because I’ve never been an outline writer.  I just sit down and put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard as the case may be).   Come the end of November, we’ll see if not outlining was a help or a hindrance.
  • Zumba – I need to put together at least one class so I could sub in emergencies. – This is not done.  I don’t really know where I thought I would find the time.  Still needs to be done but I’ll kind of combine it into something else for next month.
  • Teach/assist at least 4 classes – Not quite.  But that’s ok.  There are only so many opportunities to teach in a month.  This gets knocked out of the park next month, easily.
  • Read two books that have been sitting on my shelf.  Both start with ‘w’. – Damn, failure again.  Reading is just going to have to fall off of my to-do lists for a little while.
  • Stretch!  Try for 3 times a week. – This one is actually good.  I really wanted to be in that front split by the end of October (I almost typed Coctober, lol) but the last few inches are always the toughest.  A few times this month I thought I felt my back leg touch the floor so I’m good with that.  I’ll just keep at it.  It isn’t as though I’m 18 and trying to force my body to do something it’s only done once EVER.  And that was by accident out of sheer terror.
  • Pole.  Home or studio, but at least 3 times a week. – Did pretty good with this one.  Usually home on Thursday and studio on Tuesday and Saturday.  It’ll switch up locations next month, but we’ll keep the intensity and maybe add a day.
  • No minds – This cannot even be judged.  But I’ll say that I”m getting better.
I guess I’m running at about 50% for the month.  For November I either need to be more motivated or I need to not try to do so much.  Which way will I go? If you don’t know, you just don’t know.  What should I try to do in November?
  • NaNoWriMo – Yes, actually write this novel.  It is started.  It just needs a twist perhaps.  And an ending maybe.  There are just so many ways the story could go.  Quite fortunately, I will have a LOT of free time this month since we’re taking a trip to Florida.  I see several mornings of squirrel watching on the porch with my laptop and a cup of coffee.  This is the year I do it!
  • Teach – I am on the schedule!!  November brings me four classes (would be 5 were it not for traveling). I just need to bring the funk to class and make sure that I give the ladies their money’s worth in the form of a nice workout, perhaps learning something new, and walking away with a smile.
  • Zumba – I need to do something with this.  I can’t say what just yet.  One or two of you know what I’m thinking.  I just need to get it all together.
  • Stretch – Still want that split.  Maybe I should push this one out to be by my birthday.  I’m sure giving myself an extra 9 days past the end of the month will do the trick. <insert eye roll here>
I’m going to leave it at that because it’s still a lot.  Might not seem like it, but I also don’t really feel like you want to know what I’m doing at every moment of every day.  And if I tell you, that might create a stalker.  Hahahahahaha, oh come on, not really.  I’m not that interesting. 🙂
I’m off.  May your day be full of treats and very few tricks.  I’m on to costume two because costume one is not work (at least not office work) appropriate.  Look at my Facebook photos to see it.  Have a great Monday!
